Adverbs of Frequency

Adverbs of frequency are used to show how often something happens.

Either or Neither?

The word Either is used to show there is a choice between two options.

e.g. Either Tom or John will paint the fence.

Maybe Tom will paint the fence or maybe John will do it.

The word Neither negates the two options. Not A and not B.

e.g.

Neither Tom nor John will paint the fence.

n.b. nor is the negative of or.

The word Both is used to show that they are the same. i.e. Option A is positive and Option B is positive.

Both Tom and John will paint the fence.

Gerund

When a verb is the subject of a sentence we use a gerund.
Gerund = verb + ing

i.e. Smoking is bad for you.

The verb to smoke is changed to smoking to make a noun.

Other examples: I like swimming. Swimming is my favourite sport.
