Formal = smart clothes, serious situation
Informal = fun, relaxed

1. Greetings
Formal: Good morning, good afternoon, Hello
Informal: Hi

A: How are you?
B: Good thanks, what about you?
A: I’m fine thanks.

2. Contractions

Contract =  make smaller
Expand = make bigger

It is a pen. = It’s a pen.
He is my friend. = He’s my friend
You are French = You’re French

3. Negation

No = Single answer
Not = Modifies (changes) word

This is not my pen.

What, where, when, who, how

5. Word Order

In Active Sentences the word order id Subject, Verb, Object.

Subject = Main noun (does action)
Verb = What is done

 Object = Second noun (action done to it)
 
e.g.  Tom opened the door.
 Tom (Subject) + opened (Verb) + the door (Object)

6. Inversion
Subject and verb change position:

7. member 
A member of something (group/club)

8. Apply
Apply for something.
Verb

Application
Noun

9. Pronoun
Word used instead of a noun.
e.g. He, she, it, them, him, her
